GUEST BLOG, LARRY THE LIZARD

Swoosh, kids.
This is Larry the Lizard. That explains the “swoosh.” (You know the sound your tongue makes when it’s darting in and out). Anyway, you don’t know me but the Diva does. I live across the street in the park. Well, sometimes. I also spend a lot of time at my place in the field which is by the park, or at my “vacation home” under the row of shrubs by the condo. I get around, you know?
Anyway, I’ve been crossing paths with The Reg almost since she landed in the neighborhood. It’s pretty much the same routine: She comes to the park, her humans in tow, and I scurry along the concrete or around the bushes, just out of reach. She starts tugging and pulling on the leash (thank goodness for the leash, BTW) and the humans start gesturing and running and I have a blast staying four steps ahead (four feet, four steps … get it?) I even have my friend Lefty (he only runs to the left) get the whole thing on video so we can enjoy it later while snacking on some ants.
But the most fun is running on the green fence.
You see, they have this fence around the field with green mesh all over it. Man o’ man, it’s like Disney World for Lizards. I and my buds can run all over it – up, down, sideways. It’s like a lizard convention every day. It makes the Reg nuts trying to catch us as we zoom-zoom-zoom the Green Lizard Autobahn.
OK, ready for this? Somebody decided the mesh didn’t look so great so one day we wake up and it’s gone!!! All the lizards in the Hood went into shock and depression. I think it bummed the Reg out, too. I can sit on my rock and watch her walk by. Definitely put her on the Down-elator.
Well, got to close and grab some breakfast before Reg gets over. A few bugs and I’m good to go the rest of the day.
Thanks for sharing your blog, Diva. I’ll try and drop by more often.
And for all of the Diva’s readers … remember, be kind to your local lizards. We keep your neighborhood bug population down and the free entertainment for your pets isn’t bad either.
Chow, er, Ciao!
